National Geographic KiDS offers a variety of educational books for children of all reading levels.
I received several books to review and I was intrigued with the topics. I have always loved National Geographic from their channel on TV to the classic magazine that was always at least one copy laying around my house growing up. With all the three children the books were quickly divided up between them.
My son took the fluent reader book about Mars right away. He loves science and non-fiction has always been a favorite topic of his. He is in AP reading classes in middle school and the fact that these kept his interest impressed me. I received a Spanish dinosaur book which will be going to my bilingual co worker. Her son loves dinosaurs and this book has such amazing graphics he will sure love.
The baby, well she really is a toddler but still the baby of the bunch, loved the Animal Ark book. The pictures brought to life animals that she has never seen before. Simple sentences that was easy for her to follow along kept her interest. She is just now getting into a deep love of books and the Ready to Read book was also short enough she didn’t get bored. Her older sister, who loves to read to her, took over and even found animals she has never seen before.
Super Readers have super fun
National Geographic KiDs offers a super fun site called Super Readers. There’s prizes, free downloads, free online activities, and even homework help. I have children in 6th 4th grade and am very excited about the whole homework help option. Both of them are now signed up for a free account. Plus earning rewards by reading books that they actually enjoy to read is a win win for me.
